PHILLIP GENE WOOD
GLASGOW – Phillip Gene Wood, age 78, passed away at his home on June 21, 2022. He was born on March 7, 1944, in Lake City, Iowa, to Archie and Genevieve Scroggins Wood.
He married Wanda Pauline Fields on September 25, 1965, in Columbus, Indiana. He worked with the Barren-Metcalfe Ambulance Service first as a dispatcher and then as an ambulance driver/EMT during the early to late 1980s. He enjoyed playing gospel music, woodworking, NASCAR races, and UK Basketball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Pauline Fields Wood; his mother and father, Archie and Genevieve Scroggins Wood; three brothers, Delbert Wood, Laverne Wood, and Gary Wood; nephew, Ronald Wood; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carles and Velma Pauline Fields; brother-in-law, Randy Fields; and sister-in-law, Pam Fields Taylor.
He is survived by three sons, Ronnie Wood (Regina) of Brownsville, Ky., Robert Wood of Glasgow, Ky., Richard Wood (Michelle) of Glasgow, Ky.; and one daughter, Trina Dennison (Bobby) of Glasgow, Ky.; one sister, Judy Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Korey Wood, Aaryn Wood, Brandon Wood, Kyle Culbreth, Corey Culbreth, Vanessa Bray, Amber Bray, Maryssa Wood, and Kendra Wood; five great-grandchildren, Grayson Wood, Addison Wood, Carson Wood, Livi Culbreth, and Ellie Culbreth; and numerous nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friend and companion, Ann Meyers of Glasgow, Ky.
Funeral services were held on June 25, 2022, with burial at the New Liberty Cemetery. Brother Dennis Mack officiated. Pall Bearers will be Brandon Wood, Korey Wood, Aaryn Wood, Kyle Culbreth, Corey Culbreth, and Jerry Hobart.
