Prior to the regularly scheduled February 22 meeting of the Metcalfe County fiscal court, there was a public hearing regarding the closing of Hubbard Cemetery Road. No one was present to contest the closure.

During the meeting, they had a second reading of the road closure ordinance, and it passed unanimously.

The court took a vote on the IDA spec building fit-up, which is to house the stage portion of Pennington Stave and Cooperage. Thus far they have received only one bid, which exceeded the target price by $1.3 million. They voted to look for additional bids.

Emily Hathcock from BRADD was present, and suggested that additional grant funds might be sought to complete the project, or that the fit-up plans could be taken back to “barebones”.

The court also approved the Barren River regional multi-jurisdiction or multi-hazard mitigation plan. The five-year plan was presented by Emily Hathcock.

They also unanimously approved the Kentucky Community Development Block Grant, which is going to Bowling Park.

Bill and Chris Lagermann were also present to request a partial closure of Ellis Estes Road. “A portion of the road is blacktop then we would like the road to end where the blacktop ends,” Bill Lagermann said.

He said that they had lived on the land for over a dozen years, and have been told that the road had not been officially used in 50 years. The goal of the road closure would be to keep unwanted trespassers off of the property.

The budget, claims, and inter-fund transfers were approved.
