Drug paraphernalia found at both locations
On February 17, 2022, search warrants were executed at the Sunoco Station and the Marathon Station in Munfordville. The Search Warrants were obtained following an investigation that was conducted on February 16, 2022. An underage juvenile purchased the product known as “Delta 10” at both locations.
The Delta 8, 9, and 10 products contain a level of THC, which is the compound found in marijuana. These products contain THC derived from hemp and are to contain a level of THC no greater than 0.30%.
However, in many instances, the vape products are being “loaded” with a higher concentrate of THC. These products are not approved by the Federal Drug Administration, and litigation about these products being legal for sale at all is ongoing. However, currently they are being sold in some stores and vape shops. These products are not to be sold to anyone under the age of twenty one.
This investigation took place as the result of several high school students using the vapes at school. The students experienced shortness of breath, dizziness, and unconsciousness. Some of the students were transported from the school to a local hospital as the result of using the vape products. Investigation into these incidents indicated that the products were being purchased at local stores in Hart County. It was determined that these locations were selling these products to underage persons without identification.
Upon executing the search warrants, all Delta products were seized from both locations. Also seized from the locations were numerous items of drug paraphernalia that included the following items: Glass pipes, commonly used for methamphetamine consumption, pipes used for smoking marijuana, drug Detox Kits, and numerous other types of drug paraphernalia. One location also had “flowered Hemp” that was deemed illegal to sell.
The Delta products will be sent to a private lab for testing of the actual content of TCH contained in them. Further charges may be pending the results of this analysis.
Sheriff Jeff Wilson conducted the investigation and was assisted by Deputies Bruce Neville, Jacob Hodges, and Eli Dennis. Munfordville Police Chief Greg Atwell and Shawn White assisted in the investigation.
