In an effort to capture that little slice of history known as Metcalfe County authors Dean Rowe and Richard Hines have just released their first book entitled Images of America Metcalfe County.

The two authors held a book signing on Friday, January 21st at Leftwich Hall to a steady stream of customers who wanted to learn about Metcalfe’s history.

The book holds many never before published photos from the collections of people around the county that were graciously loaned to the authors. Along with historical family photos, the authors collected detailed information about the various people, places, and things that make Metcalfe County a great place to live.

Richard Hines, a retired wildlife biologist, and Dean Rowe, a retired county road supervisor are both well known to many residents of the county and both have spent countless hours over the last few years with families in the area getting stories for the book.

The book starts with ‘before Metcalfe County’ and travels through time with events, people, places, and everyday life that gives us all that hometown appeal.

Copies of the new book have been donated to the elementary and high school libraries along with the public library to help future generations learn about the county’s history.

Arcadia Publishing and The History Press were selected as the publisher, because they encourage the compilation of local and regional history publications in the US.

If you missed the book signing and would like to purchase the book, you can stop by Wall Works, Walgreens, or the Chamber of Commerce office and pick up a copy for $23.99. You can also order from Amazon and Arcadia Publishing at www.arcadiapublishing.com by using ISBN: 978-1-4671-0788-4.
