Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) awarded Presidential Scholarships to two Barren County students at the annual Glasgow/Barren County Chamber breakfast on December 16, 2021, at the Cave City Convention Center.
Each year at this event, SKYCTC awards one scholarship to a student enrolled at the SKYCTC Glasgow Health Campus in the nursing program and one to an employee of the Glasgow/Barren County Industry of the year. This year’s scholarships went to Madison Woodcock, an LPN student at the college, and Ethan Steele, an employee of this year’s Industry of the Year, Burkmann Feeds.
Ethan Steele works full-time with Burkmann and his duties include warehousing and customer service. Ethan is a recent graduate of Metcalfe County High School. He is the son of Jarrod and Beth Steele of Center, KY. Ethan’s favorite hobby is working on a farm. Ethan is excited to have the opportunity to further his technical skills to continue to add value to Burkmann. Ethan plans to use the skills he will gain at SKYCTC to join the facility maintenance team at Burkmann.
Madison Woodcock graduated from Barren County High School in 2020. She currently works at Barren County Health and Rehab as an Activities Assistant and lives in Barren County. She has perfect attendance for class, lab, and clinical. The Clinical faculty states she is caring and eager to learn in the clinical setting. She earned a 3.0 for her first semester of nursing courses.
The Presidential Scholarship covers tuition for 30-credit hours or one year towards their degree.
