During the height of Covid last year, Catherine Brantley and Linda Cook began looking for creative ways to replace the traditional Angel Tree program which usually brought in toys to resource centers across the region to distribute to kids in need.
As a result, plans for the first ever Angels for Angels Golf Scramble are underway. The event is to be held September 22nd at the Barren River State Park. They enlisted the help of many, including Peggy Harris.
“We though a golf scramble might work because there are lots of avid golfers in the area,” said Harris. “And I am always on board when it comes to anything to help children.”
The event will be presented in the format of a four-person scramble. The cost is $75 per individual or $260 per team to participate. The fee includes the green fee, entry fee, and tournament meal. The tournament is limited to 100 participants.
There are many prizes which have been donated, including a new vehicle from Don Franklin.
Entry fees should be taken to the Southern Barren Family Resource Center at 2477 Austin Tracy Road in Lucas.
Harris said some have asked if the event will be cancelled due to COVID. The answer is a resounding “no”.
“The event is outdoors and people can choose to wear masks,” she said.
