Last summer there was a palpable change when the long held tradition of Metcalfe small town festivals went on hold because of COVID-19.
This year, the hamlets from which they hail are proud to announce their return. In August, festival goers can attend Summer Shade’s Branstetter Park Music Festival & Homecoming, and the Sulphur Well Homecoming.
The Branstetter Park Music Festival & Homecoming will be held Saturday August 21 and 22. The 21st will be dedicated to music, food, traditional arts and crafts, and fun for kids.
Attendants are invited to bring a lawn chair, and all pickers are welcome. Sunday the 22 will honors the 95 year old tradition of the homecoming, with a sermon, music, and noon potluck.
The Sulphur Well Homecoming will be a two day event, held August 14 and 15th. There will be vendors, food, traditional music, fireworks, a glow stick shower for children, and the 20th annual Liz Jeffries Duck Race. As always, the winners of the duck race will be awarded with some pretty terrific prizes. There will also be a car and truck cruise-in.
A complete schedule of events for both festivals will be printed in the newspaper prior to the events. Everyone is invited to attend, to welcome back these beloved community gatherings.
