For the past five years The Church of Christ at Center has partnered with Healing Hands International, an organization affiliated with the churches of Christ.

“Healing Hands tries to better peoples’ lives in impoverished countries by conducting sustainable gardening and agriculture workshops, helping women to develop their own businesses, and providing disaster relief,” Said Craig Waddell of the Church of Christ at Center.

Now the Church of Christ at Center has decided to partner with them again, this time for a Walk4Water.

“Another effort put forth by Healing Hands is the drilling of water wells in communities where access to clean drinking water is limited or non-existent,” Waddell said.

The Metcalfe County Walk4Water will be June 5, 2021, at 9:30 AM at the MCHS football field/racetrack in Edmonton Memorial Park. Registration will begin at 9:00 AM. Participants may spontaneously show up the day of the walk, but preregistration is encouraged so that we can have an adequate amount of water, snacks, and supplies available. One may preregister at hhi.org (follow the Walk4Water locating link) or the church’s web page, centerchurchofchrist.org (select the Walk4Water link).

HHI has drilled 1,175 wells to date, providing clean water to remote communities.

“This helps the people avoid water borne diseases. It also benefits the women and children since they are the ones who generally carry the responsibility of retrieving the water thus placing them more at risk of being accosted,” said Waddell.

“Our goal will be to raise enough money for one well. When the well is dug, we will receive a report about that specific well and will gladly pass along the information to anyone who desires it,” Waddell added.
