On Saturday, May 8th, the hamlet of Summer Shade will celebrate 149 years at their annual Founders’ Day event. Festivities will be underway from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“I am looking for pickers to help fill the 12 – 2 slot,” said coordinator, Ron Underwood.
Live music, food, door prizes, and shopping will all be part of the fun. This year, the committee chose to honor the Prairie Ramblers, who hail from Summer Shade and Willow Shade.
99.1 The Hoss will be set up at Cash’s Olde County Store and spinning Prairie Rambler songs in the days leading up to Founders’ Day.
As always, the honorary mayor of Summer Shade will be chosen and announced toward the end of the day. For a complete list of activities and times, see the illustration.
