GENOLA SEXTON

EDMONTON – Genola Sexton, 87, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green after a brief illness. Genola was born February 28, 1934, in Metcalfe County to the late John and Kizzie Jessee Gilpin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman; a son-in-law, Joe Pedigo; brother, Kimble Gilpin; and brother-in-law, Carl Byrd.

Genola spent all her life in Metcalfe County except for a couple of years with the love of her life Thurman. He passed away in 2009, after 50 plus years of marriage. Genola retired from Metcalfe County Nursing Home as Dietary Supervisor after 22 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Red Lick Church which she loved with all her heart and the church family. She always said that no one knows how much I love my church family but the Lord. Genola was a people person. She loved to talk and have a good time. She always had a positive attitude in whatever the situation might be. She could often be heard saying “I just love people.” She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and doing seek and find puzzles.

Genola is survived by two daughters, Patricia Pedigo and Connie (Michael) Taylor all of Edmonton; one grandson, Jason and wife Amanda of Glasgow; four great-grandchildren whom she adored, Travis, Isaac, Eli, and Liberty Pedigo all of Glasgow; a sister, Doris Byrd of Eighty-eight; two brothers, Don (Rae) Gilpin of Edmonton, and Larry (Pat) Gilpin of Bowling Green. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. A walk-through visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and after 9:00 AM Thursday until service time. Anyone wishing to attend the visitation or funeral service will be required to wear a mask or other face covering to protect the health of all those in attendance.
