They fought basket to basket with the first quarter ending with the Hornets up 17 – 15 over Clinton.
Neither team let up in the 2nd quarter, going into the half with Clinton County trailing 29 -27. The fourth and final quarter started with the Hornets maintaining a lead of 42 -37. At 1:53 left in the game, Clinton County’s Chase Stines hits two free throws to give the Bulldogs the lead 51 – 50 over the Hornets. The Hornets never recovered ending in a heartbreaking loss to Clinton, 62 – 55.
Coach Brockman said “I thought our guys played well. They executed the game plan very well. We battled the boards and competed throughout the game. We have to give Clinton credit. They made big plays when they needed them.”
Peyton Dial was the Hornets’ leading scorer with 16 points. Boston Devore ended with 12 points, Jax Allen 10 points, Wyatt Blythe 7 points and 5 assist, Sawyer Edmunds 6 points, and Dathan Jolly ended the night with 4 points.
