A new and exciting event is happening soon for the children of Hart County: Read-N-Feed Christmas.

This event was established thanks to the hard work and dedication of Dr. Virag Pandeya, M.D., his wife Jackie Pandeya, APRN, and Helping Hart founder Angel Bergenson.

Read-N-Feed is an anticipated year-round reading incentive for Hart County children ages 2 to 12. It allows each child to receive free meals by reading books. Each child will also receive a different book at each event.

This year’s theme for Read-N-Feed’s December 4 kick-off event is “Books & Cookies”. This is a free drive-thru community event, and children will receive books, cookies, hot cocoa mix, gloves, hats, stockings full of goodies, and more.

“Our goal for the program is to instill a love of reading in the heart of your child,” stated the Pandeyas and Helping Heart in a letter to parents. “Research shows that when a child frequently reads or is read to, they are more likely to have academic success in school and ultimately greater opportunity in life.”

“I have had (this program) in mind for some time now,” Jackie said. “We hope to be able to have a Read-N-Feed event several times throughout the year.”

Read-N-Feed Christmas: Books & Cookies will be held on Friday, December 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. outside of Dr. Pandeya’s Office, located at 950 Main St., Munfordville. For more information, contact Angel at 270-590-4977.
