2020 General Election – Voting made easy

Barren County Residents Have Several Options Available to Vote in the 2020 General Election

With the 2020 United States General Election less than one month away, the Barren County Clerk’s Office wants to make sure that the voters of Barren County are both prepared and equipped to vote in what will undeniably be one of the most important and unique elections in American history.

The deadline for requesting a mail-in absentee ballot ended at 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, October 9th. Requests made before the deadline are currently being processed, with ballots being mailed daily. Once received, voters have the option to mail their ballot or deliver it to the Barren County Government Center, located on the North side of the Square in Glasgow. The ballot drop-box is conveniently located immediately inside the front door of the Barren County Government Center and is under 24/7 video surveillance.

Those who are voting in person for this election have several options available.

Early voting in Barren County will begin on Tuesday, October 13th inside the office of the Barren County Clerk, during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Please note that all motor vehicle business will be conducted at the two windows on the east side of the government building. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, only voters and those conducting business in the Recordings Department will be permitted inside the Clerk’s office during the early voting period.

The Clerk’s office will be open on each Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the early voting period, with October 17th and 24th being open only for voter business. The last Saturday, October 31st, the office will be open for both voting business inside of the office and motor vehicle business at the outside windows.

On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, Barren County will offer three voting locations throughout the county, located at the Barren County High School Gymnasium, the Cave City Convention Center and the Austin Tracy Volunteer Fire Department. All locations will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Those who vote on November 3rd are welcome to vote at any one of the three Barren County locations. All three locations will have have voter information for the entire county and each voter is asked to please bring a photo ID. These locations will have many voting stations set up and again, will be implementing practices to protect the health and well-being of Barren County residents.

Those who requested a mail-in ballot will NOT be eligible to vote in person, per Section 23 of the emergency regulations for this election which states: “Once a voter has requested a mail-in absentee ballot, the voter cannot vote in person unless the voter has not received their requested ballot by October 28, 2020.”

If you do not receive your ballot by the end of October 28th, please call the Barren County Clerk’s Office immediately to ensure that you will be eligible for voting on election Day.
