EDMONTON – Herbert Fields, age 88, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Born July 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Noah William and Mary Katherine Hurt Fields. Herbert retired from Southern States Coop after 34 years of service and was a farmer. Herbert was a compassionate man and had a meek and humble spirit. His Christian belief showed in his daily life. He was a member of the Grace Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Fields of Edmonton, and Donnie and wife, Gwen Fields of Marrowbone; two grandchildren, Dustin Groce of Elizabethtown and Heather Nation of Glasgow; and one great-grandchild, Chandler Nation.
Besides his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, and a sister, Regina.
Graveside services for Herbert will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Willie Gibson Cemetery on the Reece-Hurt Rd. with burial to follow. A walk-through visitation will be held from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home.
