Local voting for upcoming election

Hart County Clerks Office

We would like to do our best to keep all of Hart County residents informed on what to expect for the upcoming election.

There have been several changes this year with the election due to COVID-19, and we know it can be a struggle to keep up with what is going on with your voting options. This year, there are three different options to vote. Each registered voter can choose whichever option is best for them.

Option #1

With COVID-19 being an issue, Governor Andy Beshear has allowed everyone to be able to request a mail in ballot. If you would like to request a mailed ballot, you can go to www.GoVoteKY.com or call our office at 270-524-2751. We are already taking requests for these. However, we have not received ballots in-house as of yet. We are expecting these in late September, and then we will get these out as quick as we can. There will also be a drop box located in our office for people wanting to drop off their ballot instead of mailing.

Option #2

We have always had early voting in the office a few weeks prior to the election before an excuse was needed to be able to vote early. Now, however, it is open to everyone. We are very excited about this option. ANY registered voter can come in our office and vote starting October 12. No excuse is needed!

With having limited polling spots available, this allows anyone to come as they please and avoid the long lines on election day. We understand that some may not be 100% comfortable with mail-in voting, but still may not feel good about going to the polls on election day during the pandemic. Early voting is the answer to that! We want to encourage anyone that can to come vote early. The is the exact same process as going to the polls on election day.

Our office is located at 200 Main Street in Munfordville.

Early voting begins Monday, October 12 and continues through November 2, Monday through Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturdays include October 17th, 24th, and 31st from  9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Option #3

We have cut back our precincts for this election. We will have two Super Centers. Any registered voter from any precinct can go to either place to vote. They will be open on election day, November 3, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Our two Super Center locations will be:

  • Horse Cave Fire Department. located at 1040 E. Main St., in Horse Cave
  • Hart County Fair Grounds, located at 2184 S. Dixie Hwy., in Munfordville

Important Dates

October 5 – Last day to register to vote

October 9 – Last day to request an absentee ballot

Please call us with any questions or concerns you might have. We want each and every registered voter to have to ability to vote and to do so comfortably. These are scary times, and we want to do our best to make each and everyone comfortable. Thank you all so very much for your cooperation during this time.
