Tompkinsville man stabbed to death, girlfriend charged with murder

In the wee hours of the morning, January the 9th, Tompkinsville police responded to a 911 call at a residence on Carmen Street in Tompkinsville.

When Officer Ricky Shirley arrive, he found 64-year-old Monroe County man, Murrel Pruitt laying on the living room floor. It was apparent that Pruitt has been stabbed multiple times.

Pruitt was later pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner.

Upon investigation, it was determined that his girlfriend, 56-year-old Joanne Tooley (Joanne Goode) was responsible.

Tooley was taken into custody by the Tompkinsville Police Department. She has been charged with Murder (Domestic Violence).
