Maureen Carpenter named Executive Director of Economic Authority

The Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce hosted an event this past Thursday at the TJ Pavilion Community Room for Maureen Carpenter.   She has been named the new Executive Director of the Barren County Economic Authority.

Carpenter has built a career working inside economic development and most recently serving on the Bowling Green Area Chamber.  Carpenter says she is excited about getting to work and ready to embrace her new position.  She lives in Bowling Green but does have plans to relocate at some point.

She said the community has been so welcoming and supportive.  She spoke of the excitement she has for the job and doing her part in growing Barren County.  She spoke of the energy she feels in our community and believes we seek leadership willing to bring us together.   She is ready for this challenge and is eager to see what can be accomplished when this happens.

Chamber President Ernie Myers, told the attendees that Maureen comes to us experienced and ready to get to work.  She has been doing this and been successful at it.

The new Executive Director spoke with everyone as they waited in line to welcome her.   She said she was eager to meet existing business owners and detailed that this was so important.   She said, “we need to market ourselves for new industry and seek diversity but remember to take care of the existing businesses.”
