Festival season is here

From August to the end of October the small towns of South Central Kentucky are at their finest, as festival season is underway.

In Metcalfe County, the third Sunday in August is held in Sulphur Well and it’s a personal favorite. But all of the festivals are fine.

Summer Shade has the Branstetter Park Festival which celebrates history and deep community roots. Later in the year, the Pumpkin Festival is in Edmonton, the heart of Metcalfe.

Monroe County has one of the biggest festivals around each August, the Watermelon Festival. People come from far and wide, and I can recall going to Barren County’s Annual BP&W Arts and Crafts Show which is a true celebration of everything local.

Each county in the region offers something, with fun for the whole family to enjoy. If you’ve not attended one of the festivals I suggest you go see what it offers.
