David Alan Woosley   1952-2019

David Alan Woosley, 66, of Chalybeate, formerly of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Friday May 24, 2019 at his home.

The Daviess County native was born Dec. 23, 1952 to the late David Kenton Woosley and Virgie Minton Woosley. He was a dedicated and talented painter for the family business for 41 years, a bass singer for numerous gospel singing groups, a member and deacon of Owensboro First United Baptist Church and a member of Caveland Bassmasters. His love for his church and singing was his way of helping people know about his Lord. Fishing and taking care of his small farm brought him great pleasure. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dale Woosley; his parents-in-law, Stewart and Margaret Payne; a nephew, Zachary Woosley; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Huff.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Kinslow Cemetery. Visitation was be 2-8 PM Monday and after 9:00 AM Tuesday.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nelda Payne Woosley; two daughters, Laura Smith (Shawn) and Amy Minyard (Neil) both of Chalybeate; a brother, Barry Woosley (Cindy) of Bowling Green; six grandchildren who took part in his caregiving, Harrison Smith (Devin), Madysen Massey (fiance’ Cody), Tristan Minyard, Kalei Smith, Ashton Minyard and Jaxon Minyard; many nieces and nephews; and his in-law family who also took part in his caregiving, Larry Payne (Bonnie), Gloria Huff, Gail Davis (Earl), Sharon Coomes (Mike), Roger Payne (Marietta) and Brian Payne (Whitney).
