Metcalfe County and Barren County basketball fans got a surprise at last week’s basketball game. Over 20 participants in the “Layers of Love” program gave fans from both schools special cookie jars they made.

“They had a lot of fun making them and probably even more fun and joy giving them away,” said Cheyenne Perry shortly after the children gave the jars to people between the basketball doubleheader. “Our community education and extension office put on this special program. It was a great success,” Perry added. She said they made “Cowboy Cookie Layered Jars” and then presented them to fans on both sides of the court from both Metcalfe County and Barren County High Schools.

Each participant got to make two jars—one to keep and one to give away. Perry said they made a point to let the children give their jars away to fans on the Barren County side too.

“It was a nice way to spread some joy and happiness,” Perry said. “Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the surprised fans just made the night special. Hopefully, all the participants will remember this night and how good it feels to make things and give them away to people they didn’t even know and local fans too.”
