Memories for seniors

Senior Citizens at Christmas Party along with the van driver, Kim Mills.

The Senior Citizens held their Christmas Party at the Edmonson County Library on Friday, December 14th.  They enjoyed a ham lunch with all the extras and afterwards exchanged small gifts with each other.

After the gifts were opened, Betty asked that they remember the senior citizens that were no longer with them this year and if anyone had anything they were thankful for to let it be known.  During this time, Vickie Walker spoke up and told them that I (Dona Dunkelberger) had had my last Chemo Treatment and how thankful we were for that.  The whole group applauded and hugged me and gave me encouragement to continue to fight, I was so blessed by their response and I truly enjoyed the afternoon with them all.

To end the party, they all danced to some old music.

The Senior Citizens Center is open Monday thru Friday for anyone 60 and over.  Lunch is served at 11:00 every day, if  you are interested in joining them and want to eat please call 270-597-3116 the day before so they will have a correct count for the food.  The center provides transportation to and from the center every day, crafts,  health services and they also have a hotline available for anyone needing to just talk or feel like they are in a crisis situation.
