Summer traffic recap
Nolin Lake State Park has seen an upswing in visitors this year and a 14 percent increase in the campsite and picnic rentals. Things are definitely moving in the right direction, proving that families still love to spend time out on the water.
Nolin Lake State Park Manager David Kem gave a brief overview of what’s upcoming for the organization. “We have had a great 2018 so far at Nolin Lake State Park. Our RV Campground is just as popular as ever. We’ve had slightly more campers this year than last, from 3,724 by this time in 2017 to 3,793 so far in 2018 – a two percent increase. Our biggest growth has occurred in our Primitive Campground. We went from 700 campsite guests through late August 2017 to 1,240 in 2018 – a 77 percent increase. Most of that growth is due to open most of our primitive campsites to reservations on our online reservation system, Reserve America.”
He added, “prior to late summer 2017, all primitive campsites were walk-in only. This year we also made our Picnic Pavilion available for online reservations and created a new waterside Group Campsite, which can also be reserved online. And campers still have lots of opportunities to join us this camping season.”
The RV Campground at Nolin Lake State Park will remain open until Nov. 12 and the Primitive Campground is now open year-round. The remainder of events scheduled for the duration of the year is two weekends of Halloween Campouts in October.
