Cram the Cruiser and Stuff the Bus

On July 13, Edmonson County Youth Service Center, Edmonson County Family Resource Center, Kentucky State Police, Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, and Brownsville Police all collaborated together for the 12th annual “Cram The Cruiser” and the 13th annual “Stuff The Bus”.

Both of which are events to come together to raise money, supplies, or snacks for the students of Edmonson County for the school year that is almost here. The event started at Family Dollar in Brownsville from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pelican Sno Cones serve delicious sno cones and donated 20 percent of their earnings.

The Family Resource Director, Lisa Whobrey, said: “It takes a village to raise a child” and as we all know that is true. It is very important for the kids tho have school supplies, Donations ranged from backpacks, pencils, hand sanitizer, and folders. Whobrey also gave praise to Kentucky State Police, Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office and Brownsville Police for the assistance on making this event a success.

Across the river, at Save A Lot in Brownsville is where the event was from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It was sponsored by Houchens Industries who doubled whatever was donated for “Stuff The Bus”. This drive focused more on foods for kids such as pudding and jello cups, juice boxed, granola bars, water bottles, beef jerky, or oatmeal packs. Both accepted monetary donations. The events collected $2000.00 worth of supplies and cash for Edmonson County School.

All donations were distributed evenly to each of the five schools right after the event ended. Save A Lot in Brownsville is still selling Stuff The Bus buses. You can purchase these at the register for only a dollar or if you didn’t get by to donate food items or school supplies please contact Edmonson County Resource Center, Edmonson County Youth Service Center, or any school to make your donation.
