Maurita Miller earns certificate

A Certificate of Recognition was presented on behalf of the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs, Brig. Gen. Benjamin Adams III Commissioner, and Heather French Henry Deputy Commissioner, to Maurita Miller for her commitment and service to the Veterans of Edmonson County.  The award cites her willingness to give back to the community thru her hard work on the Veterans Memorial Wall and the Courthouse Hall of Honor, an effort to educate our future generations about the true price of freedom.  This award was presented on Memorial Day by Joe Durbin, USAF veteran and Magistrate District 2, Edmonson County.  Ms. Miller also serves as a DAV Service Officer, assisting Mike Stoyonovich in filing claims for service-connected disabilities for veterans.

The DAV and Auxiliary would like to thank everyone who came out Memorial Day to help honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and to all those who served in uniform to keep our country free.  There are so many who participated to help make these ceremonies memorable, it would be impossible to name all of them.  A few we would like to give special thanks to are: Rev. Jerry Patton; Rep. Michael Meredith; Judge Exc. Will Cannon; Sheriff Shane Doyle; Ret. MSSGT Larry Hawks; Richard Jones; VFW Post 6937 Honor Guard; Boy Scout troop 597 and Girl Scout troop 313; Victory Voices of Smiths Grove Methodist Church, Rev. Andy Wade, Bob Buehl and Sam Dillard; Madison Florist for the beautiful wreath donated, and to all the DAV & Aux. members who worked so hard to help make our 2018 program a success.
