Getting to know the candidates
It’s important to get all the facts first before participating in the voting process. Several different meet and greet events have been scheduled out over the past months to allow people to learn more about candidates campaigning for office seats. The latest of those events was the Second District Volunteer Fire Department meet the candidates, which was held at the fire department on April 21.
Many candidates showed up in support of the public forum. The fire department and the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce partner together to bring this event to voters in the county. It turned out to be a great success for all who were in attendance. The candidates were each given a certain amount of time to speak on what they stood for and their plans for the respective seats if elected. In addition, the public got the opportunity to ask questions to the candidates.
A bean supper was provided to all who attended. Donations were accepted to help with the cost of the meal. For more information on upcoming events for the fire departments, visit the department’s Facebook page.
