MARGARET JEAN HAYES VANMETER
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – Margaret Jean Hayes VanMeter, 79, of Bee Spring, passed on to her Heavenly home, with her family by her side, on March 26, 2018 at the Medical Center.
The Edmonson County native was a housewife, beloved mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was born December 11, 1938 to the late Gilbert and Carrie Harp Hayes. She was married for 39 years to the late Arnold L. VanMeter until his death in October 1995.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Stevie Lee VanMeter (Goretta) of Bee Spring, and Arnold Todd VanMeter (Jennifer) of Bee Spring; and two grandchildren who held a special place in her heart: Keegan Whitney Smith of Lexington, and Shea Lynn VanMeter of Bee Spring; two loving sisters: Phyllis Wilson of Louisville, and Helen VanMeter (McNeil) of Bee Spring; a special brother: Athel “Bubba” Hayes of Bee Spring; and two brothers-in-law: Jasper Woodcock of Sunfish, and Vernon Vincent of Louisville.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Ruelmer Jaggers (Lester), Ocia Elmore (Richard), Dessie Woodcock, and Barbara Vincent; two brothers: Jessie Hayes (Vickie) and Rev. Essie Hayes (Lola May); a sister-in-law: Lola Hayes; and a brother-in-law: Jim Wilson.
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 30 at Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Christian Home General Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, March 29 at Gravil Funeral Home, and after 10:00 AM on Friday at the church.
