Monday, March 5 marked an important day for two senior Lady Raiders preparing for life after high school. Mary Kate Dennis and Natalie Poynter both signed to continue their academic and athletic careers with the women’s soccer program at Brescia University.

“I’m extremely proud of all they have accomplished, and extremely grateful for the opportunity to coach them. They have set goals for themselves, they have 4.0 and they plan to go to Med School,” said Kelly Pedigo who took over as Head Coach for Hart County girls’ soccer. “We focused on the positive every game and these girls stayed confident every game, they motivated their teammates, and they motivated us all the way. I am very proud of them.”

Dennis joined the Lady Raiders in 2015, and took part in two seasons where Hart County made their name known in the state for landing on the team scoring leaders, team margin leaders, and one leading scorer in the state.

Poynter only joined the team for her senior year but quickly became a dominant member at midfield.

The day was historic, not just for the two and their families, but for Brescia was well, marking the first time the program had signed two soccer players to the team from the same school in the same class.

“With Brescia, we look for the education side of things first. Everytime we go out onto the field, we want to win every game, but we win in the classroom too,” said David Ralph, head coach of women’s soccer. “These two ladies are going to fit that mold. They are going to kick butt on the soccer field, but also be kickin’ it in the classroom, so I am very happy today.”
