Jimmie Dale Pitcock, 85, of Tompkinsville
Jimmie Dale Pitcock, 85, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Monday, May 8th, while in the company of family members, at NHC Glasgow in Glasgow, KY.
He was born in Monroe County, KY on May 12, 1931, son of the late Elsie Susan (Hammer) and Roscoe Marvin “Coley” Pitcock.
Jimmie Dale was a young pitcher with the Veteran’s Ball Club in Tompkinsville. He signed a Class A Contract with the Chicago Cubs which was cut short due to serving in Korea. He was a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, retired from the Postal Service & the National Guard and was a Korean Veteran. He was a cattle farmer, UK Wildcat fan, avid golfer & bowler, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He married Phyllis Ford May 15, 1951 in Fayetteville, NC. They shared almost 66 years of marriage together.
Jimmie Dale is survived by, his wife, Phyllis Ford Pitcock of Tompkinsville, daughter, Sandra, wife of Bob Smith, of Glasgow, KY; two sons, Gary Pitcock, of S. Windsor, CT; Clark, husband of Beverly Pitcock, of Glasgow, KY; half sister, Teresa Meredith, of Cave City, KY. three half brothers, Jerry Pitcock, of Bowling Green, KY; Terry Pitcock, of Murray, KY; Perry Pitcock, of Bowling Green, KY; 3 grandchildren, Mark Smith & wife Lindsey of Glasgow, Laura Dyer & husband Josh of Botswana, Africa & Olivia Pitcock of Bowling Green & 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, KY, at 1 PM on Saturday, May 13th, with Dr. Tom Stokes officiating.
Visitation, Friday 4:30-8 PM. and Saturday 6 AM till servcie time at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. .
Interment at Ebenezer Cemetery with Military Honors by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
